Please take time to read our cancellation policy before you book.  We understand that life happens, but we also have to run a successful business during a very short summer season.

Bay Lodging proudly adheres to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, which ensures that individuals with disabilities have equal access to Bay Lodging’s services and facilities. Our ADA compliance covers many areas, such as accessible parking spaces, wheelchair-accessible entrances and exits, accessible guest rooms and bathrooms, and other features that ensure ease of use for people with disabilities.

Miller Ferries

The Miller Ferry docks are located 2.2 miles from the Bay Lodging hotel. Taxi shuttles and golf cart rentals are available at the pier.

Jet Express (Port Clinton)

The Jet Express docks are located 0.7 miles from the Bay Lodging hotel. While the pier's location is within walking distance, taxi services, golf carts, and bike rentals are available.

Put-in-Bay Airport

The Put-in-Bay airport is located 1.4 miles from the Bay Lodging hotel. Taxi shuttles and golf cart rentals are available within walking distance from the airport (0.4 miles)

Several public dockage options exist for guests who plan to transport themselves to the island. It's essential to bring an ample amount of fenders and line. Please contact the appropriate Dock Master before arrival if you have dockage questions.

Transportation to Bay Lodging Hotel:  Harbor taxi services are included in the buoy rate and can be hailed without limit during taxi operating hours.  The harbor taxi will deliver customers to The Boardwalk where guests can travel to Bay Lodging via land taxi, golf cart rental, bicycle rental, or a (0.4 mile) 8-minute walk. 

More Information:  Vessels must be less than 53 feet in length.

Harbor Taxi Hours: Mon-Thu 8:00 AM until 11:00 PM, Fridays 8:00 AM until Midnight, Saturdays and Holidays 7:00 AM until Midnight, and Sundays 7:00 AM until 11:00 PM.

Golf Carts

One of the most fun and convenient ways to navigate the island is by cart. While on the island, you will see hundreds of golf carts roaming the busy streets. At the Bay Lodging Hotel, we offer guests convenient on-site cart rentals. You must be 21 years old to rent a golf cart from Bay Lodging.

Bicycle Rentals

For guests that prefer a more active form of transportation, the island offers bicycle rentals, both pedal, and electric. We recommend this option for site-seeing as the island has a large state park and various historical sites.

FAQs

No, our well-maintained golf carts are available to rent for non-guests as well.  We provide hourly, daily, and overnight rentals. If you are a guest at Bay Lodging the $20 overnight fee is waived.

If there is no damage to the room or linen and no one smokes in the room, then your security deposit refund is processed after you check out.  It typically takes 7-10 business days to post back in your account.  However, depending on your bank, it can take longer.

Instances like this are dealt with on a case-by-case basis.  Typically, we allow a one-time move for your reservation to other dates within the season.

Bay Lodging Resort is a family-friendly hotel. 

Quiet hours are from 11 pm to 10 am, and disturbances are handled to ensure all guests’ stays are enjoyable.

Contrary to some beliefs, technology is reliable, fast, and widely available on the island.  This includes Bay Lodging’s internet.

Most cell carriers offer good service on the island.  AT&T and T-Mobile offer 5G, while Verizon and U.S. Cellular offer 4G.  However, bandwidth may be an issue during busy weekends, and visitors may experience intermittent voice and data issues.  We offer guests free WiFi if you are on the hotel’s property.

Dogs are allowed on the hotel’s lawn, and it is the responsibility of the dogs’ owners to pick up
after them. Only service dogs are permitted within the pool area.

All breeds of dogs are allowed as long as they are friendly and do not exceed the weight of 40 pounds unless approved by management.

We typically have music playing from our speakers at SJ’s Hideaway bar, and on some weekends, we have a guest DJ and/or band.  That said, if music is not playing, you can request music from the bartender or ask permission to play music from a personal speaker.  Ultimately the music situation is determined by the bartender(s).

You can not bring your own alcohol into the pool area due to our liquor license, but you can
purchase alcohol at our poolside bar, SJ’s Hideaway.

Coolers are not permitted within the pool area.

We pride ourselves on cleanliness. We ensure the rooms, lobby, and public restrooms are very clean. If there is an issue, please let the front desk know, and they will take care of it as soon as possible.

Yes, and it’s conveniently located 0.3 miles from the Bay Lodging hotel!  Be prepared to pay island prices on groceries.  If you’re renting a room with a kitchen, please feel free to bring coolers along for the trip.  Just know, coolers are not allowed in the pool area.

One of our 10-person suites and one of our king rooms have an adjoining door. However, those
are the only rooms that are connected. If you’d like to, we can place reservations near each other.

It is very easy to get a cab to and from the hotel. Staff at the front desk can call a cab for you.  Also, you can click here to see cab phone numbers.

HOTEL POLICIES

  • There is a 50% deposit required upon booking all future reservations.  
  • Guests who make same-day reservations will be charged the total amount and will not be eligible for a refund.
  • All weekends (excludes April) require a 2-night minimum stay.
  • Holiday weekends require a minimum 3-night stay.
  • Smoking is not allowed in any room.
  • Continental breakfast is available for hotel guests.
10-Person Suites
  • There is a 50% deposit required upon booking all future reservations. Upon arrival, Bay Lodging will require a $250 security deposit.
  • Guests who make same-day reservations will be charged the total amount and will not be eligible for a refund.
Multi-Room Suites

PET POLICY

If you travel everywhere with your furry friend, take comfort in knowing that Bay Lodging is a pet-friendly hotel. However, we are required to follow state, local, and insurance regulations. We’ve compiled some housekeeping rules to help keep guests safe and in compliance.

Only certain room types are pet friendly, and a limited number of these rooms exist. If you’re bringing a pet, you can make your reservation by phone, as booking online does NOT guarantee that your pet may stay on the property.

  1. Bay Lodging is an ADA-compliant hotel. Therefore, service animals accompanying persons with disabilities are always accepted.
  2. There is a maximum of 1 pet allowed per room.
  3. Any pet must weigh under 40 lbs.
  4. At no time should a pet be left unattended on the property or in a room.
  5. Rooms with pets require a non-refundable cleaning fee of $40 per day per pet.
  6. Pets must be well-behaved and appropriately restrained at all times.
  7. Guests with pets must comply with local regulations. Don’t hesitate to contact the Village of Put-in-Bay if you have questions regarding the local code.
  8. All pets must be leashed on Bay Lodging’s property when outside of the room.
  9. Pets are not allowed in food, beverage, or pool areas. This exclusion does not apply to service animals.
  10. Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pet(s) on hotel property and in the local neighborhood. 
  11. We want every guest to enjoy their stay at Bay Lodging Hotel. Therefore, frequent disturbances such as barking must be minimized, especially during quiet times.
  12. For the safety of our employees, guests with pets must arrange specific times for cleaning and servicing. During that time, pets must not be in the room.
  13. By booking a pet-friendly room, guests agree to indemnify and hold harmless the hotel, its owners, staff, and operator from all liability and damage suffered as the result of the guest’s pet(s).
  14. Bay Lodging Hotel reserves the right to charge a guest’s account proportional to the cost of any pet damages.
  15. When booking a pet-friendly room or before arrival, guests must show proof of vaccinations and that pets are parasite free.
  16. Guests are responsible for all property damages and personal injuries resulting from their pet(s).

CANCELATION POLICIES

10-Person Suites
  • Bay Lodging cancellation policies go into effect upon reservation completion.
  • Cancellations must be received by email. Please reply to your confirmation email to cancel.
  • Cancellations made at least 90 days before the arrival date will result in a $50 cancellation fee.
  • Cancellations made between 89-45 days before the arrival date will result in a $100 cancellation fee.
  • Cancellations made 44 days, or less before your check-in date will result in a forfeit of the deposit. In addition, guests cannot change the length of stay, reservation dates, or room type within this time frame.
  • Due to our location, we have a 3-month window during which we make most of our income. So, we will not make exceptions to our cancellation policy.
Multi-Room Suites

Bay Lodging Golf Cart Rentals

The most common form of transportation at Put-in-Bay is golf carts. Here at the Bay Lodging Hotel, we’re pleased to provide our guests with the convenience of on-site golf cart rentals. The hotel is within walking distance of the island’s most popular venues. However, there is much to explore across South Bass Island’s 1,588 acres, and a golf cart will make exploration quicker and more enjoyable.

Put-in-Bay Golf Cart Laws

Every golf cart on Put-in-Bay is considered a licensed motor vehicle. As such, every Ohio traffic law applies. Driving with an open container or a blood alcohol level over .08 is a criminal offense. Golf cart operators must have a valid driver’s license and be 21 years or older.
